About Me

Welcome to Brookie's Cookies!

I'm Brooke or Brookie, if you must, but I don't think anyone has called me that since grade school.

I basically started this blog as a way to record the recipes that I make on a semi-regular basis.  I'm not fancy with my cooking in any way, shape, or form.

Generally, I don't attempt to make anything that looks too difficult.  I'm a nervous cook.  I always think I'm going to mess the recipe up somehow.  Color me green with envy when I see other people just throw in a little of this or a little of that into a recipe.  I need structure.  That's probably why I enjoy baking so much.  You have to measure your ingredients (...unless it's cinnamon...I don't think you can ever use too much cinnamon.) or the recipe won't turn out!

If I could quit my day job and bake, I would.  I've never had any formal training, so that's probably not the best idea.  But, I really do enjoy it.  Cookies are my favorite thing to bake.  Although, I do make a mean apple pie.  (Thanks, mom!)

Speaking of quitting my day job, I've also found that I love designing invitations or anything that can be put on paper.  It started with our wedding invites and grew from there.  I think I need to get Photoshop and a better printer before I turn in my two week's notice!

I'm a pageant girl at heart.  In my late teens and early 20s, I competed in the Miss America Organization.  I still volunteer and love every second.  My talent was playing the piano.  I started playing when I was five, and even managed to win a talent award at Miss Michigan 2004.  I probably should play more now than I do.

I reside in Metro-Detroit with my husband Ryan.  He's still undecided about this blog.  Every time I pull out my camera to take a photo of what we're about to eat, he gives me a side-glance.  Oh well, I love documenting what I make, and if I'm happy, he's happy.

Happy wife = happy life.  Right?  ;)
